Ground covers are incredibly useful plants in any garden. Whether it's stabilizing sloped banks, softening the look of unattractive retaining walls, or acting as a living mulch to suppress weeds and retain moisture, these hardworking plants are true garden helpers.
Erigeron karvinskianus (Seaside Daisy)

The Seaside Daisy is a free flowering evergreen perennial ideal for borders and edging. Its soft lacy feel with flowers that open pink and fade to white as they age, make it perfect for cottage gardens. Grows well in a sunny to part shade position in moist well drained soil. Give a good prune over winter to encourage new growth. Gets to around 40cm high.
Casuarina glauca (Cousin It)

The popular Cousin It is a unique and hardy native ground cover that has leafless stems. It has a spreading, cascading habit making it ideal for retaining walls or covering stumps etc in your garden. Great coastal plant that prefers full sun and tolerates light frost and drought conditions. Can spread up to 1.5 metres and helps suppress weeds. Also looks great in a face pot acting as hair.
Evolvulus pilosus (Blue Eyes)

Blue Eyes is an attractive ground cover with silky grey foliage and produces small blue flowers from Spring to Summer. It is ideal for rockeries, retaining walls, hanging baskets and pots where it is allowed to cascade over the edges. Prefers s sunny to part shade position in well drained soil. An occasional trim will promote bushiness.
Trachelospermum jasminoides Tricolor (Variegated Jasmine)

The Tricolour Star Jasmine is a twining, evergreen, woody stemmed plant that will grow along the ground or as a low growing climber. It has lovely variegated foliage with reddish, pink new growth and glossy green and cream leaves. Produces pinkish-white fragrant flowers. Bes suited to a sunny to part shade position in moist, well drained soil. Prune well in Autumn to remove congested branches.
Juniperus conferta (Juniper)

Juniper is the ideal coastal ground cover as it will tolerate salt laden winds. Grows well in a sunny position and is ideal for rockeries and low maintenance gardens. In good conditions it will become a dense green mat helping to suppress weeds. Will grow to 30cm high and spread to approximately 2 metres.
Dichondra argentea (Silver Falls)

Silver Falls is a spectacular silvery leaved foliage plant with long trailing, cascading stems. Ideal in hanging baskets or as a ground cover where it can cascade over retaining walls. Enjoys full sun to part shade position in well drained soil. Avoid overwatering and prune back hard to keep plant tidy.
